As you’d expect, Karunesh Talwar is his usual cynical, annoyed and hilarious self in his second stand up special, Aalas Motaapa Ghabraahat.

 

The whole show, to put it simply, is about two relationships in his life - one with his parents and the other with his girlfriend. It’s about his frustration at realising that caring deeply about anyone mostly involves being extremely irritated. In the case of his parents, he’s irritated at their conventional ways of thinking, the suspicion of rationality and the constant paranoia that being middle class parents in India brings. In the case of his romantic life, the irritation is directed inwards. It’s himself he’s annoyed at for not knowing how to ‘boyfriend,’ essentially. Vastly inexperienced with dating, and grappling with ADHD, he talks about dating his best friend, how enormously he lucked out, and how he’s just trying to make sure she sticks around.
