What began as four friends sitting around a table with some tea, a toy keyboard, two guitars, and a pair of drumsticks has since become Champak: a multi-city musical adventure.

Shoumik brings experimental pop sensibilities — part dreamy, part urgent, full of melodic surprises. Aditya is the glue: percussion, foley, synths, and vocal harmonies. Aman holds down the low end and the band's collective sanity, bringing body to the music. Lakshman's shoegaze-tinged guitars and audio engineering introduce controlled chaos to Champak's sonic landscape.

Champak, the multi-city bedroom pop / alternative rock outfit, have released their debut album A1 - a seven-track collection that arrives less like a polished statement and more like a diary entry written in many voices. Raw, mercurial, and full of heart, the title is a double meaning: Album 1, and excellent.

With A1, Champak doesn’t chase a singular grand concept; instead, they linger in vignettes. Recorded over six months between home studios, the record bears the warmth and imperfections of the rooms it was made in.
