Frizzell D’Souza
Singer | Lyricist | Songwriter
Hailing from the coastal city of Mangaluru, Frizzell D’Souza often brings the calm introspection of a seaside rumination to her style of acoustic pop and soft rock. Then, perhaps the rolling hills of the city she was raised in also inspired her transformative debut EP The Hills Know Of You from 2022.
It’s not to say she doesn’t write about cityscapes – Frizzell did study architecture, after all. But her focus shifted towards music in her college years itself.
Often speaking as intimately as possible with covers that caught the attention of everyone from Jacob Collier to Wheatus, Frizzell also showed she was a diehard fan of Indian independent artists. From Sid Sriram to When Chai Met Toast to Parekh & Singh and Prateek Kuhad, Frizzell has received plenty of peer acclaim.
The year 2021 spawned her breakout hit “Foolish Once Again.” The beloved, lilting song has over a million streams, even catapulting Frizzell to become Spotify India's Radar Artist of the Month in May 2021.
Her sophomore EP In My Asymmetry from 2024 leans into electronic pop, one that might remind you of Florence + The Machine at times and wears her love for John Mayer on her sleeve at other moments. Here too, Frizzell takes us to admire the beauty between life’s grey spaces.
